For generations upon generations, women have been barred from positions of power. As time has passed women from all different backgrounds have fought to overcome their oppression. Women have been labeled whores, prostitutes, sluts, slags, “little ladies,” and “the weaker sex,” despite being the sex to provide all life to our world. Amanda Johnson investigates these stigmas in her figurative work. The figurative work she creates reflects the bare and raw power of the female sex and survival.
