"Deep Ocean & Shore Reef" Parking Garage

Community means everything to me. As an artist, I consider it my responsibility to reflect culture and identity in the work I produce. This is why I’m sincerely elated to share a project that allows me to do just that for my home of Boynton Beach.

The “Deep Ocean & Shore Reef” parking garage is a 3-D surface public art sculpture for the south parking garage that I have been commissioned to create by JKM Developers LLC in partnership with Finfrock garage builders. I was chosen from the Art in Public Places Emerging Public Artists Program which I am honored to be a part of. The project pays tribute to Boynton Beach’s coast city persona while also acting as an educational tool to inform the community about environmental impact and conversation of our beautiful sea flora and fauna.

Providing a sense of direction and place, I designed two distinct towers with their own harmonious but separate themes, “Deep Ocean” & “Shore Reef”. Each floor will be accompanied by an aluminum cut out of a sea creature with informational panels about their respective sea life.

If this project interests you, I direct you to the City of Boynton Beach’s write up that provides additional information about the project: https://www.boynton-beach.org/art/south-parking-garage

It would mean the world to me if you could share this post or the link above on social media to help spread awareness of this project.

The expected completion date for the project is May 2020. I can’t wait to see this project realized, standing tall and vibrant as a monument to a city that has given me so much.
