Oh My Stars Crown
Oh My Stars Crown
My work with crowns started long ago with our family tradition of Christmas crackers, a tradition from our friends across the pond. This practice and my fascination with kings, queens and other strong figures fueled my desire to craft these elaborate crowns. Soon I was being asked to make crowns for people’s birthdays and special events. Sometimes when a friend was down or sick I would make them a special one. I always made one for my dad’s birthday. That’s really what so special about these crowns. Each is hand made so that, like people, no two crowns are exactly alike. Wearing a crown is a proud declaration of self. The crown speaks to who we are and what inherently makes us unique.
I draw influence from notorious hat maker Philip Treacy, artist and jewelry designer Andrew Logan, HRH, beauty pageants, the Mexican Day of The Dead, and Frida Kahlo. Wherever I see a strong presentation of identity, I’m enamored.
I also custom make them for bridal parties, showers, birthday parties, weddings, graduation parties or just because. They are the perfect gift for someone who has everything or is hard to buy for. Each crown comes in its own clear box so that when you’re not wearing them you can display or store them safely.
My crowns can be bought at the Amanda James Gallery or you can call to order them.
To the Royal in all of us.
